"Illuminated Waistcoat"

This was a rather interesting, yet simple form of traffic control that was used in probably the late 1910s to early 1920s in the city of New York.

Generally, police officers worn these, and they safely guided automobiles at busy intersections with these.

Each one had its own set of three indications (red, amber, and green) that were probably controlled by hand. Neat nevertheless.
