US Traffic 179

Would anybody happen to have a manual for a US Traffic 179 controller? Or is it just a glorified 170 controller? I suppose the manual would have more to do with the software it's running as opposed to the actual hardware. I'm not sure what's going to be in the unit when I get it. I'm hoping the C1 connector pinout is the same as the 170. Any info would be helpful. I didn't see anything in the archives. Thanks, Wynn

Wynn, a 179 is a NYSDOT standard...different software, different pinout, but it can be managed. Contact Phil for more specifics.

I haven't received the unit yet. I hope in a week or so I'll have it. Is the C1 pinout different depending on the software that's in it? I would assume the RYG outputs would be the same as a 170. I'll let you know when I get it if I can figure out what's in it. Thanks, Wynn

The controller pinouts are the same...

It is the cabinet that may be wired different!!

I have a 179 controller that is used on the east coast Switch packs 1-6 go left to right.

But the cabinet rack is from the west coast and the switch packs 6-1 right to left!!

And the detectors are not in a row either!

I'm glad you caught that. I read that and thought the same thing, but decided to stay quiet, lest I piss off the Phil-obuster.

East Coast Switch Pack 1 is on the left.

West Coast Switch Pack 6 is on the left.

Got my controller. It turned out to be a 179NY-TAPS. However the display board is kaput. Power supply voltages are all correct and all connectors are tight. Just waiting for a reply from the vendor. TAPS is one of the manuals I don't have. Hint, hint.....

Turn the power off.

Turn on Stop time.

While pushing the "C" turn the power back on.

Turn the stop time switch off.

See what what that does.....
