Don't Walk is Back!!! (From Baltimore, hon!)

This is the new member sandbox. Until you post a little something about yourself here, you don't get to play on the rest of the board. So tell us a little something about yourself and your signals.

Gentlemen, Ladies and Signalnuts all!!!

First, thank you all so much for the very cool welcome (and Happy Thanksgiving!) it is a pleasure to be back.

Several of you asked about what became of Baltimore's signals. Unfortunately, the Baltimore DTT is like the NSA - they guard their signals like you wouldn't believe! Unfortunately neither myself nor any of my fellow Baltimore signal collectors have an "in" with DTT. Years ago you would find the signals available at city auctions, but not recently. After a bunch of lights were recently taken down, they ended up in an antique shop where they were promptly grabbed by myself, my buddy Carl (who landed the one and only finned Marbelite they had - lucky break!). I do not have any idea where the 10 or so Eagle 4-ways that were removed from service ended up. I fear it is possible that they were scrapped or they could be sitting in a warehouse somewhere. The excellent news is that there is still a formidable army of older signals, including at least 8 or 9 Eagle 4-ways left around town if you know where to look. Sometime soon we'll have to arrange for a get-together in B-More.

And as for the Walk/Wait lenses - I have a set of Ashtray lenses that I am saving - they were a gift from a fellow signal nut at the Baltimore Streetcar Museum. Unfortunately the rest are gone...

Take care all and Happy Thanksgiving! I'll post some pics and will try and get some video up, too...

Warmest regards,
Chris
If I see you at the next light, for both of us I hope it's green because while I have more than seventy thousand of those red and green eyes in this city alone, the green are the ones that I and millions of other drivers love most

Welcome back Chris. It sounds like you are fortunate enough to live in a place with substantial signal history. I hope those Eagles can be located and saved. :beg:

What's with all the quotes in everyone's signatures?

Sorry to hear about the erosion of Baltimore's signal history. :( Has anyone tried intervening and saving some of these old Baltimore units from the scrapper?

do you remember Happy Sierra on Ebay. I bought my roundbody and marb flattop and a couple of other lights off of her. They all came with the baltimore visor set up. I ended up talking to her on the phone and she said her husband and dad were working in baltimore and bringing the lights back to michigan and selling them

I don't remember her specifically, but I may have dealt with her. A couple of years ago I purchased on eBay a roundbody ashtray lensed ped setup that supposedly came from Baltimore. It very well may have been from them.

I also kinda wonder what happened to Adam, the guy who runs (or ran) the Baltimore Ghosts site. He disappeared a few years back.

Bout time Chris!! ;) Glad you are finally here. I know where one 4 way Eagle went and Chris has had the pleasure of seeing it. Its in my Traffic Light Room. Somehow I lucked out and managed to get the one from Charles and Biddle Sts. I now have it connected to my controller and it works great! The finned Marblelite has been restored and it looks great, however I have not hooked it up yet. I promise pictures will come soon as I figure out how to do it, Duhh.
I was thinking about possibly having another Baltimore Meet sometime in the Summer of 2010. I also thought about maybe trecking over to D.C. for a few Hours, since its less then an Hour away. I will post more later after I get with Chris.
Adam Paul is still around, but has been very busy with his work. Baltimore Ghost is still here. I talked to Him a few Months ago, at a Baltimore Signal/Streetcar meet, at another collectors House.
Chris, Sometime after the Holidays, I am planning to go up to Father Mullers, House in Lineboro, Md. to see his collection. Maybe you could join me?
I happen to have had the pleasure of meeting Chris's Wife, katy. She is awesome!!
BTW, Who is going to be a Daddy?
