I'd love to be the one to start a lens identification Wiki. I have a few I could start with. Not that I know which ones are which. I guess that's the point. I have quite a few different lenses that I'd like to know more about and could start by photographing what I have to get the ball rolling.

Seems to me that I remember a thread like that already exists on here :blink:

It has close up pictures of lenses and descriptions. I just can't remember if it is for one brand or several. I'm sure someone here knows... Maybe you could find it and get the topic rolling again :good:

Good idea, I'm sure myself along with others could learn a lot with a thread containing all the different types of lenses. I could contribute pictures, but most of what I have are well known lenses.

Yes there is. The goal was to make some sort of table with the rim markings and several overall and detail view photos of each lens.
