These were made from 1936 to 1950 with a minor changes in them through the years.

They could of had Lancaster Glass relfectors or Bosch and Lomb.

The earlier ones had lenses with indents, such as the commands, large bead and small beads smileys. then the smileys changed to a double outward tab and had a number 2 on them

The earlier 4 ways had a 1-1/4" threaded hole in the top then changed to 1-1/2"

The earlier hangers were brass before changing to cast iron

Cast visors were standard, bolt on visors were optional, horizontal door with bolt on visor was another option. these doors are different from the DT. the D had a 90 degree rain drain

There was a lettered door that just said Crouse Hinds with a bolt on visor

The D didn't use a lense gasket just cork between the lense and door

All Ds had lower lever latch

Earlier Ds had an ID tag

There is some highlights for now anyone else have some info to post, I have a bunch more

Good stuff Jay-

Also,
The D's had 2 different styles of cast reflector frames.

There were two sizes of rods, 3/8" with 3/8" thread & 5/16" with 3/8" thread.

Three styles of cap nuts. (Taller, fatter, narrower....)

Squared off drip edge  on the doors.

Used shims behind the worm gear to get the correct clearance for the doors to latch properly. And the worm gear are shorter than the DT's.

The (4-ways at least) didn't have a terminal block.

I'll post pixs of these differences & examples later.

And there was atleast two different styles of body frames also

the one style of accorn his hard to find all brass also

The 4 ways did have a terminal block, they were mounted right to the roof. they are a pain to work on. where the DT's had the bracket that mounted in the roof that dropped the terminal block down and turned it so you could work on it when opening the red section
