EM or E/M is short for Electro Mechanical

NEMA is short for National Electrical Manufacturers Association.

Not sure on EF??

EF is Eagle. Their early mechanical controllers were EA, EM and EF. The EF20 was the workhorse and was upgraded to EF70 to handle the load of the additional signal heads.

In the traffic signal industry there are a bunch of abreviations. It's even more so on this forum because we extend them from the current, all the way back to the begining.

I wonder what EF stood for....if I was to go out on a limb it was for "Eagle Fixed (time)"

EPAC : Eagle Programmable Actuated Controller

EPIC : Eagle Programmable Interval Controller

MARC : Master Area Response Controller

SCOOT : Split Cycle Offset Optimization Technique

There's a few off the top of my head

There's also MF but that's only used when programming a NEMA controller.
