I usually run 15 watt clear bulbs. It lights up the light and you can still look at the lense and see the details

I use 25W clear bulbs in all of my signals (with a few small exceptions). I think 25W is great for indoor displays as the indications are not insanely bright (yellow is brighter than green and red, though) and you can still look at the lenses without being blinded.

I'm not against the usage of 15W light bulbs, since everyone has his own preference, but I also use 25W light bulbs for what I have on display.

Like Jeff mentioned in his comment, 25W are indeed great (merely as an opinion) for indoor use. I feel that anything below that wattage would seem a tad bit dim. Maybe that's because my eyes are adjusted to the brightness produced by a 25W light bulb inside.

I use alot of the 15 watt bulbs in my beacons. All are hanging in my workshop so I do not like for them to be to bright. I use both the frosted and clear 15 watt and some 25 watt.
It's just a matter of choice. BTW...how much are you paying for the 15 watt bulbs?
Thanks

I run screw in adapters and 7 watt night light bulbs in my signals I have hanging in my gameroom. The exception being my 2 section durasig pedestrian signal, it has 2 9 watt candelabra cfl's.

I just recently started pulling the 60 and 69 watt bulbs in favor of 40 watt. The programmable signals and the ones with standard traffic LEDs are pretty bright, and I want the incandescents to match in brightness...not have a mix of bright and dim.

The 40 watt lamps give decent light without looking too dim compared to the other signals.

Oh, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU Nick!! :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

I have 40w bulbs in most of my lights, and was feeling SO ALONE with all these reports of 15W (or less) bulbs in everybody else's signals!!  :Phil:

FWIW, I just mostly didn't find 25w to be quite enough for my liking, esp in a 12" light. Exceptions which come to mind are 8" arrow indications and 9"peds, where 25w can look just fine.

For the record, I DO have 15w frosted bulbs in my bedside lamps -- NOTHING I hate more than waking up in the middle of the night, only to be totally blinded when clicking on a light to keep from inadvertently stepping on the kitty... :nono: :nono:

I've have used them and they work fine. It'll be just enough to light up your lense but won't be blinding to look at.
A cop pulled me over and said, "Papers..." So I replied, "Scissors! I win!" and drove off.

 Hee, hee! I guess I am an odd-man-out here. I still run traffic signal 60 watters in my siggies. Love the fading effect, but I do not turn lights on too often.

Don't worry Steve, I was reluctant to switch out! I like the actual traffic signal bulbs operating, but my set up is/was fully actuated so the phases that dwelled for long periods tended to get toasty. Especially the 3M!

I reprogrammed my setup to cycle most of the phases for a minimum time unless they are called to extend, to keep the signals from being static too long and generating so much heat.

Heat was the #1 reason why I switched out, to me they weren't that bright at 60 or 69 watt
