Alabama 4-ways

Postby freebrickproductions on Mon May 06, 2013 9:47 am

I am a railfan, signalfan, and I'm interested in tornado sirens. I hope to learn new things about traffic lights because I'm interested in them and don't know much about them.

Well, seeing as I can't drive yet, nor will I be able two for atleat two more years, it may be awhile.
Unless I'm able to convince my parents to drive me out to these this summer...

EDIT: Found some in Athens, AL. These are the ones that I'll most likely be able to get pictures of:

I saw a picture of a Crouse-Hinds 4-way that was destroyed in the 2011 Cullman tornado. I was in Cullman in 1994, and I don't think I came across any of the 4-ways. Back then, I wasn't paying as much mind to signals as I used to as a kid, or as I do now.

I assume this is the picture you're talking about:

It looks like Cullman had a four-way double beacon as well:

The single-face traffic lights didn't make it as well either:

And here are some of the single-face traffic lights that are pictures in the third picture (the one that is the link):

There used to be a couple of CH 4ways on the main drag in Guntersville...remember seeing them when working on a project in Huntsville in the 80s...

Nice post. There are still plenty more out there. I know of some in Piedmont, Alabama City, Anniston, Oxford and even a few more in Birmingham.
