2 way GE resto in progress

Postby azrednex on Wed Feb 13, 2013 7:58 pm

I'm new here and my "welcome wagon" thread was getting out of hand so I will contribute my new pics and discoveries here where it is more appopriate.

I have a GE 2 way in rough shape. It was imbedded in concrete for years (back story in the "welcome wagon" thread.

I have chipped the concrete of of the bottom.

There is still concrete inside this thing. I think this is all for now though.

I've been with this group since the beginnings in the Yahoo days. I've seen a lot of signal restorations, some of them my own, but I've never seen someone have to remove concrete off the base of a signal. It looks like you were very successful though...nice going! I look forward to keeping up with your efforts to bring this one back to life!

Looks like there is a slipfitter in the concrete...... :good:
Well what do you know. If I put my name here, I do not have to sign it everytime.

Is that a bottom stuck inside another bottom?

Seriously though... It looks like one of those down-light bottoms (to be mounted on 4 pipes in the middle of an itersection) with a standard post mount bottom jammed up inside the other bottom.

Does this light have two bottoms  or is this a type of bottom I have never seen before?

It does look like there is an improvised bottom on it. The standard bottom has 4 smaller post and, the "stubs" of this are still visible inside the bottom. I am happy with the single post mount bottom though so I will leave it that way.

BTW, this signal is NOT for sale.
