New controller addition (?)

EM, NEMA, whatever - if it controls a traffic signal, you can talk about it here.

I now have an account with Intelight.. They finally approved me after almost 3 months and I forgot all about it! I now have access to software and tech updates for MaxTime, MaxView, and LightManager ... nothing posted yet

Keeping my fingers crossed that this week I hear something, one thing I have learned from my experience dealing with them is their email communication is a mixed bag of long and short time between responses. The quickest response time was when I was back and forth with Doug Crawford trying to get LightManager to talk to the yellow section. That was only a few minutes between emails

Still holding out a little bit of hope! Time for :sleep2:

Nick - Everytime I see you post on this thread, I keep hoping it's a "Eureka, I got one!" post. :)

They are nice machines. I've gotten to play with a few when visiting a few regional signal shops. No angry birds though

Tom emailed me back saying he forgot to ask the sales department and when he gets a chance he will give them a call... hope to hear something soon!! Otherwise I'll just have to fly out there and pick one up myself :Wink2:

I did see notice some Intelight NEMA cabinets go in service here recently, at least I think they were...They look almost identical to an Eagle NEMA cabinet, with a flush-in switch panel door, but they have bolted-on hooks for mounting them attached to each side of the roof. Probably has 2070 stuff in it instead of NEMA

Because it is the first Google Android based traffic controller available. The goal I'm hearing from Intelight is that they are going to make it so you can load an app on a smart phone or tablet and program it wirelessly. You don't necessarily need the games on it, but the functionality to upload and download apps of any kind, even third party stuff, is useful. Using games is a great way to display the multiple uses the controller has.

Think of it this way, load the local intersection controller software, and another app controlling surveillance cameras, and another counting cars or gathering research data...all from one machine

All I have to say is McCain, Siemens, Econolite and Peek better step up their game  In the "big 4's" defense, they do have to support years of equipment and software. Intelight is starting with a clean slate

Wouldn't the good people at Homeland Security have something to say about wirelessly reprogramming vital infrastructure systems? Features are nice, but don't they create vulnerabilities?

Wireless reprogramming of intersections is nothing new. Most controllers are programmed offsite, either at a master unit or at a central office PC, and the information is picked up by antennas at the intersection.

Just how old is a Gateway Model # W322???
Well what do you know. If I put my name here, I do not have to sign it everytime.

Unless you run the Multisonics 820A OSAM system, then information from the central PC is sent via telephone lines!

Now we are really dating ourselves! :Wink2: Actually its really not that unusual to have hard wire communication given that the traffic signal industry is so slow to update technology, mostly because of supporting 30+year old systems and software. I've just recently seen McCain's NEMA and Siemens ATC NX controllers equipped with USB ports!
