Inside a current generation Aldridge

Postby That Aldridge Guy on Tue Jan 01, 2013 1:49 am

Here, this is a current generation Aldridge that I got from Gridlock Electrical last week, opened up to reveal what's in it! This one originally had a quartz-iodine (halogen) module, which was attached to the lens seal.

Connector for attaching wire of quartz-iodine/incandescent/LED module and mounting/pivot point only for the latter.

Cable clamp, wire block & step-down transformer.

Hole for wire cable & manufacture date mark. This one was manufactured in 1999.

I've also shown the lens frames with the four different logos from the 1990s, 2000s & today!
The frames simply clip into place and can easily be removed!

All I need now is an incandescent/LED module & 2 core flex with plug!

I'm assuming the 'Quartz-iodine' lamps are just standard little tungsten halogen capsules, and not a linear lamp or anything like that?

The quartz-iodine lanterns can be identified by that 'cross divider' inside the reflector dish. Q.I. bulbs are held down by a latch on the back of the reflector housing. They should not be handled with bare fingers as the quartz will be stained.
