While somewhat scarce in comparison to other subject matter, there are still many books and publications relevant to our collective obsessions (namely traffic signals and signs). I've been turned onto a few, and have been lucky enough to find a few more myself, but I just know there are more out there.

As I can, I'll post the ones I've come across, but if you know of one that hasn't been listed yet, please do speak up!

Could the ISBN numbers be listed for books? Would make it a piece of cake if any of us wanted our own copy. Just punch that number Amazon or walk into Barnes & Noble with it, etc.

Dave - Good idea on the ISBN. Though some material, especially that published by a trade organization, will not have an ISBN available, so the necessary ordering information and/or links to websites would be greatly appreciated.

3LG - Thanks for the info. Just how DRY is it? And what does the content cover? It sounds like a kind of MUTCD, no?

Oh this book gets real specific from an engineering standpoint (what the hell, I mean it's written by engineers why should it read like Green Eggs and Ham?) Chapter headings are as follows;

PREDESIGN ACTIVITIES
BASE PLAN PREPERATION
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
SIGNAL DISPLAY AND DESIGN CONFIGURATION
TRAFFIC SIGNAL CONTROLLERS
DETECTORS
WIRING/CABLING

and more but it is very technical and I keep trying to wade into it little by little. It's basically a step by step of intesection design and constructon from the first permit to the last slamming shut of the controller cabinet door. For a layman like myself, I have to translate some passages, literally, and gloss over a bit of the matematical indecies and formulii. Originally printed in 1982, my copy appears to have been a 1991 reprint. I also didn't see it in the list of books in the ITE book store.

(Green Eggs and Ham was on my summer reading list and I must say its a definite read!)

It's a tad bit pricey for recreational reading (not mention dry). I don't think I've ever made it all the way through the book myself. :shock:
