The body cleaned up very well, but the visor's and doors will need yet another coat of paint remover before I decide if the parts will go to be media blasted. The body was obviously painted dark green, but the visor's and door front's seemed to have been painted black. Any thoughts on color's to make this as it was originally??

:hello:

Paint or Powdercoat??

If the body was green IMO it was all green from the factory. Detroit did theirs all black. I don't think anyone did two tones back then...

Powder!!!

A high-gloss black like this would look amazing on that...my 2 cents. It's your signal so you may do as you please. :hello:

Just got off the phone with a powder coating shop, he quoted me $100 to have it done.

This is a no-brainer, this signal will be powder coated...

Can anyone give me some tips on removing the ID tag? It looks like it is fastened on with a couple brass nails, they are pointed on the inside.

Got em out, looks like I can reuse them too. Thanks OT :hello:

Now, plugging the two holes that someone drilled in the body isn't going to be so easy.

Put some masking tape over the hole, mix up some JB Weld, and fill the hole from the inside of the signal. The tape keeps the weld from oozing out and will leave it relatively flat. Take a strait edge or flat object, put it down on top the tape and scrape the excess off from the inside. Remove the tape and you'll have minimal, if any, sanding to do on the plug. When it's primed and painted, the plug will disappear.

I need to use something metal don't I, or the powder coat won't stick.

I briefly discussed this issue with Tacoma Joe and Drew at OSM, their suggestion was to tap the hole, screw in a bolt, cut it off flush, and sand it smooth.
