EM, NEMA, whatever - if it controls a traffic signal, you can talk about it here.

out with the old....in with the slightly newer ( controller)

I hate to switch these out, but I have had no luck finding the controller for the GE cabinet so I decided to switch it out with the Econolite. The good thing about it is that the Econolite has the flashing don't walk, and since it is going to be running an Econolite Wait/Walk neon ped, I needed the ped function that the GE wouldn't have. I still have to paint the Econolite the same color as the GE to blend in with it's surroundings. :Wink2:

Nice set-up.

It's interesting to know that your type F could perform the flashing "DONT WALK" clearance, since, from what I understand, it was not capable to perform that function. I guess unless it was modified, then that was possible.

Will you post a video of it? I'd love to see that function.

I'll post a video of it when I finish wiring it up..... which shouldn't take more than a few months!

Nice setup Easy. What are the two boxes on the door? Are they what makes the flashing DW?
I'm so old I remember when the word "mother" only had one meaning!!!

Gordon, I think that the top one is the flasher, but your guess is as good as mine. The big one is a mystery to me.....the controller worked fine when I got it so I didn't bother tinkering with it.

Can any of you " controller " guys tell me what the boxes are?

The one on the top is a flasher, probably for the flashing DW, the bottom one...can you post pics of the inside?

Looks like an early version of a conflict monitor (monitors greens only) and a mercury switch (on upper left side), that gets tripped if there is a conflict (usually broken cam). I have an old eagle with a conflict monitor box similar to this. It's rare to see a conflict monitor on an electromechanical, but it did happen on some of the ones that lasted longer and the municipality wanted that extra level of liability protection.
