Removing lens bracket from Marbelite beacon

Postby Canuck_in_TX on Tue Jul 16, 2013 1:14 pm

Now that I have my visors for my Marbelite beacon, I am going to dismantle it in order to strip all of the paint off. [Still deciding whether to powder-coat this one or just spray paint it)

For those who have restored Marbelite signals, I am wondering what is the best way to remove the metal piece that is used to hold the lens bracket in the bottom of the housing of my 2-way beacon without breaking it? Can it be lightly tapped out [from the end shown in first pic] or what do you suggest? It seems to be in there very tight.

That is a spring clip. Get a flatblade screwdriver and pry it upward out of the hole. Then move the bottom of the reflector housing forward.

Guess that's what I needed - a screw driver. It resisted before but this time it came out with the help of the screw driver. Wasn't sure if there was more holding it in so I didn't want to force it and possibly break it.

Thanks, Joe! :hello:

Gonna be a real bugger to take apart - must have been out in the weather elements for years wherever it hung.

OR.... Open the reflector outward and push down so the top part is free an pull forward and up at the same time......
Well what do you know. If I put my name here, I do not have to sign it everytime.

Everything is out of the beacon....now to get the beacon itself apart. Gonna probably need to use some
PB Blaster and maybe some heat to loosen everything up.
