Started my CH Type D resto today

This is what I started with:

The wiring is gonna need some work.
Image

The reflector retainers are pretty corroded. I had 4 reflector retainer screw heads sheer off when trying to remove them.
Image

The rods were also badly rusted, I had to cut them and will use all treads to replace them.

I cleaned the lenses a little. It has glass Lancaster reflectors but they are not in the best shape.

I still have the hanger soaking as it will not turn loose. :Phil:

Thanks for looking.

Throw some heat on that hanger nut and see if the expansion helps get it loose.

Do yourself a favor and send your sockets out to forum member "GWLRENO". He does a great job rewiring the sockets, re-potting them and making a new wiring harness.

He also has the cork gaskets you may need. Although that one socket in the photo looks pretty bad, like part of it is missing. You may need a new/replacement socket for that one.

That's a great project you have there.

Gonna paint it green. :hurl: I'll be posting more pics as I get further along. I thought the hanger and a few other parts were never going to turn loose. Thanks goodness for Kroil and a heat gun. I worked this morning getting everything ready to be blasted.

Roll Tide! Only 76 more days till football. :clapping:

My project has been dragging along at a snails pace. I have everything disassembled and Gordon worked magic on my wiring harness. I'm going to drop the parts off soon to be soda blasted.
I have these to go in it:

Image

I was able to save the rod nuts and was going to use some original rods I have but they are slightly bent. I was think they will likely be ok to use as it would not make much of a difference once everything is tightened down.
Would you guys re-use these or pick up some news ones?

Image

I'm picking up a Octagonal base and pole on Tuesday. Now if I could just find a CH slipfitter. :beg: At this rate, Troy will probably have 5 more lights done before I finish this one.

Looks like an easy fix to bend the rods back. The threaded ends look pretty good from your picture. I say blast em, paint em, and use em. I alway try to reuse as much of the original parts as possible. But that's just me...
