Postby jab8356 on Fri Dec 07, 2012 9:11 pm

This goes in the channels on the walls of a NEMA cabinet and it is used to mount shelves and other stuff to the inside of the cabinet. I need to know what the proper name is for this part. Anyone know???

Jerry,

That's a unistrut nut.
I'm so old I remember when the word "mother" only had one meaning!!!

Also known as a springnut. Depends on the brand. Most electrical supply houses carry them.

Hey Jerry,

McMaster Carr does carry them like I had thought.

Spring nut. Take yours and go to Home Depot. Check the electrical box aisle.

HD and Lowes do not carry them. They wouldn't know one if you told them the manufacturer's part number.

Jerry, I have a bunch of those with the studs attached. Will they work for your use ?? Also have clamps for Unistrut.

My local HD's have them stocked on the top shelf of the metal-box section. Right next to where they keep the Uni-strut (the Uni-strut that's usually been run over by a freight train semi-truck fork lift :Phil: ).

I don't think McMaster is the answer. My channel is 1 1/16" wide on the inside.

I am Google-ing unistrut and the standard size seems to be 1 5/8". Can anyone help me find unistrut nuts for 1-1/16" wide channel? I can't believe that this NEMA cabinet has some rare channel in it, but I'm not having any luck finding the right nuts for it!!! :rob:
