Darley C-810 Controller

Postby jaxonalden on Sat Jan 26, 2013 1:30 am

Hey all,

Like the title states, I have a C-810 light and I'd like to find someone that has experience working with my type controller that can take a look at it and tell me if it's working properly and can fix it if it isn't. I have powered it up with 110v and the plate spins, gears turn and contacts open and close. I would just like an experienced second opinion. I'll post pictures on Saturday and a if I can, a short video of it working.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

From what you describe, it sounds like it is working fine.

Hey Dave -- I'm with Jerry -- sounds like you've got a working unit -- what you describe is pretty much all of exactly what it's supposed to do...!! :clapping: Can't wait to see more of it! :good:

The timing of the indications can be affected cam and contact wear. Getting the contacts to open/close at the proper timing point is sometimes a bear. If the wear is too bad, it may not be possible to get the exact results.

Re: Darley C-810 Controller (YouTube link)

Thanks for the help. Here is a YouTube link I upload this morning of the controller running. Like I say in the video, I think once I cleaned some 50 year old crap out of a couple of gear teeth she just kept going. :good:

Any further advice will be much appreciated!

Your controller seems to be working fine. I would not worry about the little bit of noise yours is making...listen to mine!!! I took mine apart and tried to get it to run quieter with no success.

Holy cow! That sounded like a diesel running  . On mine it seems like all it would take to stop it from running and the slightest breeze in the wrong direction. Any kind of hang-up and the plate stops. Yours sound rough but also sounds strong. Nice collection.

It may need adjustment. The screw that you see an identification tag on with other controllers, adjusts the magnets. Be careful though, I accidentally moved mine and it made the disc and controller run backwards.
