A few pictures of my collection

Postby traffic-light-man on Thu Jan 03, 2013 5:53 pm

Hi All,

I was going to post this in the Photos thread, but with all my signals being 'International', I thought I'd stick it in here!

I've been asked for pictures of my collection, so I'll post a few here. Its not the whole collection as I've not dug out pictures of the rest yet!

We hit some family difficulties a few years back and my parents separated. As a result, we moved several times, and my collection was actually too big to move with us. With the help of a friend at a highways department, and some transport by a signal contractor, I was able to have all of my Mellor collection moved into safe storage, and that's where it's living at the moment. I'm going to be making room to hopefully have it back in the near future, but I will have to be letting some of the more basic pieces go, such as simple RAG heads etc. Two of my Tin Lanterns are also now with a local transport museum for display.

Anyway, enough rambling on - here are the pics.

These are the RAG Mellor heads

This is the Tin lantern I used to have outside, with the pole and backing board.

I added another lantern to the assembly at some point. I never managed to find a controller for this, though it used to look good as it was next to the hot tub!

Lastly, my Alustar and 3G family.

I'll dig out photos of the rest and post them as I get chance!

It is cool to see what other people have in other countries!!!!
Well what do you know. If I put my name here, I do not have to sign it everytime.

Thanks all.

There are a few more signals that I'll get round to picturing soon!

The backing boards have been standard here since the 60s, though the Yellow bordered ones that were used exclusively with Tin heads were phased out with the Mellors. The SGE heads used White bordered backing boards, as per the Mellors.
