Hi Folks,

This was just delivered at our door this afternoon.

Looks to be 1960ish embossed steel street signs with a nice steel post top brackets, cast iron slip fitter and finial made by Lyle Signs. This might be something to use on top of the post for our flag mount CHs. The bracket and slip fitter will need cleaning and repainting. With street names like "First & Main" we envision small towns.

Cheers!

Nice find.

I see this kind of street sign auctioned on EBay frequently, and it seems the commonly used color scheme for this was black on white.

Hi Steven,

As we go through setting up our CH "D" horizontal lights, we have thought of repainting those signs with a white back ground and black lettering to give that 1940s-50s look. The whole setup will be completely repainted and restored.

Cheers!

Hiya Folks,

We returned home last night after spending a couple of weeks in NC while my Dad recuperated. We were once again disappointed not to find many old embossed road signs on our journey home. We stopped at a lot of roadside junk shops, antique stores and several flea markets on a 1200+ mile road trip. Only place we saw any, total of three was at the Nashville, TN Fairgrounds monthly flea market. All were excessively overpriced and Friday was the first day of the three day event so vendors were not willing to negotiate.

While in NC, we did pick up these two advertising signs.
Two sided Bridgestone lighted sign.

Two sided porcelain Quakerstate Oil sign with the date 12-54.

We will probably trade the Bridgestone sign locally for something we would rather have, otherwise it will be used to help light up the back yard at night.

The search continues.......

Cheers!
