Also, keep in mind, backplates were prob added by a contractor, they may not even have keys to open the box! :rob:

There is more to the intersection than near the railroad crossing (traffic on the other side of the freeway is also running on the same controller)

This is kind of irrelevant to this thread, Nabil, but I find this to be quite odd...

I see an arrow that points only to the left, while there are a pair (covered in stickers I presume) that point left and right. I'm not sure if there is an association with the railroad crossing to the right, but what is up with that?

Also, just out of curiosity, at the same intersection, what is the purpose of the fourth section on each traffic signal?

The sign department is horrible. It shows all over the city....

The fourth section could be a couple of things. Possibly two RH red arrows for the crossing. Or it could be two LH green arrows to divert traffic away from the crossing when the gates are down.

In any event, I can vouch for the fact that these signals haven't run normally in months. Good post Nabil :good:

I saw those back plates the other day on my way home. Weird. also is the lower someone a new thing for Detroit... not sure I've seen that before.

Also in looking at this, they added the bottom-downward-anti-sway-wind-control-clamp thingees with the backplates. I hope Dearborn didn't pay for any of this stuff... could simply have driven to Detroit with a couple sets of bolt cutters and gotten whatever you needed free.... :crazy:
