Eagle Control box

EM, NEMA, whatever - if it controls a traffic signal, you can talk about it here.

I see online that Pelco sells them - key & lock. ?

Why don't you post a picture of the lock? Someone here might have an extra to sell you.

Years ago when I first got a cabinet like that I bought a generic skeleton key from a hardware store for locks in old houses. There were two in the pack. It took a little filing on the key but eventually it opened the lock. If I remember right, the front and back of the tooth had to be filed off a bit. There was just one flat tab about 1/2 long and 3/8 wide off the key shank. Eventually I located an OEM key.

Here's a key shot. The EA key is the 6 o'clock position. The cabinet looks like it had been drilled out for the police key 7 o'clock). EA keys are hard to come by, we have only a few here at the shop.

Vaughn here from NJ. I have a similar one and mine didn't have a key either. I clamped a nail in the vise about a 1/2 inch from the point and bent it at a 90 degree angle. Then used a pair of vise grips on the head of the nail so I could turn the nail. Opened right up for me. You'll have to play with it but mine engages about the 10 oclock position. 1 of these days I'll make a key for it out of a steel blank.

I don't think anyone has the key anymore. The Pelco key/lock (Type 1 @ 7 o'clock) are for the police door (standard) and the Type 1B (at @ 8 o'clock) is the same size but with a different cut and is used where there is both a skeleton lock for the cabinet and a police panel.

I purchased these at Ace hardware and found that they work. KC167

I'll check around the lock shops to see if they can cut duplicates of my EA key but until then a bent nail or about any key that fits the hole will probably open it.

Ok got it opened up with the use of a skeleton key. Model # EA70b14. One of the ends of the capacitor is blown off. Its a Mallory , other than that there is no identifing marks on it. Is there any wiring schemtics avaible for this model? Thanks Image

We have a whole lot more than just a schematic! The archive is at http://signal-archive.d-domains.net/ In the "Eagle" folder you will find a pretty extensive EA folder. Help yourself!

That capacitor is likely just a line filter. Unless you like listening to AM radio, you probably can do without it.

Nice looking EA you got there. I'll guess the clock on the door is for night time flash.

The lock looks like the regular police key, so I'll date the cabinet later in the run.

Only unsolved issue that I have with the EA controller is the rubber bumper that the counter weight slams into turns into a rock after 50 years.

I like to listen to AM radio. You can definitely hear each time my EF-20 solenoid pulls in, LOL!!

Yeah, AM/SW radio interests and electromechanical devices are quite an unfortunate combination...I always know when my controllers are changing!
