So reassuring to know...

This is the new member sandbox. Until you post a little something about yourself here, you don't get to play on the rest of the board. So tell us a little something about yourself and your signals.

So reassuring to know...

...that so many others share my fascination with traffic signals. It started many moons ago as a young boy and was just amazed that a light had so much control over things. I guess as I kid I felt that I did not have much control  . So recently at age 62 I obtained a very nice signal -- my first -- on eBay at a great price, complete with a controller. It is single-sided with 3 lights, yellow. Nothing too special compared to what many of you may have but I am very happy with it!
Using the suggested template from Ed:

FIRST NAME, LAST INITIAL: Dan S.

(CITY or COUNTY) & STATE IN WHICH YOU RESIDE: Mount Airy, MD
OCCUPATION(s): RN, Healthcare informatics & Geriatrics. Retired Naval Officer.
WHY DID YOU WANT TO JOIN THIS FORUM (BE AS DETAILED AS POSSIBLE PLEASE)?:
See above. Want to learn more about the history of traffic signals, where development is headed in terms of new technologies, try to get 8" cutaway visors in federal yellow for my signal which came with the tunnel version. Learn learn learn!
LINK TO CURRENT COLLECTION WEBSITE OR PHOTOS:Nothing available online as of yet.
OTHER INTERESTS?: Gardening, sampling scotch, neon signs (another minor addiction), cigars, Corvettes

I look forward to dropping in, but for now I want to spend a little time getting to know the forum, and perhaps any unwritten rules that may exist. Like many of you I don't have a great deal of free time, but I do plan on participating here. Thanks!
Dan

I like shiny things that are fast, noisy, powerful, and/or potentially dangerous, and/or produce exhaust, and/or hang over intersections, or are described in the 30 series of whole even numbers with a "DD" suffix.

Welcome, Dan! Someone should hook you up with an exposed-tupe neon pedestrian signal!
