Is it just me, or do those reflectors bear a scary resemblance to those found on common $2 "clamp lights" from any odd hardware store...? Likewise for what looks like the inner ceramic 'ring' holding the socket to it -- I know I have a few old light sockets laying around (from old household fixtures) with those 'rings'...?? Is there a chance somebody long ago got "creative" to replace (or start to replace?) the originals (for whatever reason) using parts "at hand"...? (might explain all the cut socket wires??)

Its a GORGEOUS light anyways, not to mention the controller...??!!!

No, my McArthur light has them and I've seen a couple other Darley's with them.

Autoflow used a similar style reflector in their portholes, except a cheap socket was held in place with a hose clamp. Magnetboy has a Sargent Sowell resto thread documenting them.

My Darley reflectors are a 'push' fit and cover the lip of the porthole opening. The edge of the reflector has dimples that hold the press fit.

I've seen that type of reflector, the ones in this light are completely different.

Another strange issue with this signal besides all of the socket wire's cut, (except the amber section) the amber section's all have a flasher screwed into the socket. Why would all three sections have a flasher in them?
I guess this could have been someone else's toy before I got it.

Check out the pic's....

The flashers are the previous owners version of making them work. I have done that and the few people I sell signals to do the same thing to put in the flea markets.

This one is on hold as far as restoration, I was able to re-wire the signal and get it mounted on the ceiling. This is my first signal with a built in controller, IMO these Darley's are a classic example of early signals. Check out the yellow overlap from the internal controller, :2Cool: I like this one a lot!!!

Very nice! If you have a chance, could you do another short video and put the camera right up close to the bottom of the signal so I can hear your controller running? Or is it too quiet to hear? Mine is noisy!

After I put a drop of oil here and there, this controller ran very well but still had a bit of a chatter from the disk shaft. I removed three screws on top of the controller along with 2 small screws on the terminal block, and the top of the controller including the gear assembly intact was easily removed. The disk was easily removed at that point, and a couple drops of oil was applied on the shaft under the disk.

Mine runs very quiet now!!

Did you remove the disk and put oil on the bottom of that shaft, after I did that I can't even hardly hear mine run.

It has been over a year since I did it. I think I did. I don't want to mess with it again since mine seemed very touchy!
