9" Aluminum LFE Pedestrian Signal?

Postby EagleSignalFan on Mon Aug 26, 2013 8:13 pm

Sorry if this is a newbie question and has been asked before, but did LFE ever make 9" Aluminum Pedestrain Signals? I know that they made Poly ones, but I can't seem to recall ever seeing (or even hearing of) an aluminum one.

Yes they did. The LFE catalog shows both 9" and 12" incandescent pedestrian signals in both aluminum and poly, along with the aluminum neon pedestrian signals. I too have never seen a 9" aluminum LFE pedestrian signal, but I just go by what the catalog shows :Phil:

Mike, Would you be able to post photos of the catalog? I would like to see that 9" pedestrian signal, but am especially curious about the neon.

I second that.

If the 9" Poly signals are tricky to find (I have only seen a small handful of them in service), then the aluminum ones must be really scarce.

I assume that you're talking about the winged tire design for the 9 in aluminum ped. signals.

I've seen 9 inch peds. with the atom design with a more streamlined look aka. Mark IV's

I found some in downtown Portsmouth, Ohio last November, but I"m pretty sure they're polycarbs.

Here's a close up that I took. (Forgive me if I posted this before)

Count me in on the neon ped. pictures

Sure. There are a lot of sections in the LFE catalog, but I'll get the pedestrian signals scanned in over the next few days (there's one section for aluminum and one for poly). I'll send the PDFs to Vaughn to upload to the archive.

When Eagle Signal and Automatic Signal merged under Mark IV they didn't continue the poly LFE ped signal line in 9 or 12 inch. To this day Siemens only makes the LFE poly in 8 inch and 12 inch vehicle

I scanned in 3 sections and will email them to Vaughn to put in the archive:
-Pedestrian Signals and Pushbuttons
-Polycarbonate Pedestrian Signals
-Special Signals

I'll eventually get to the vehicle signals (8"/12"/combination in both aluminum/poly) for the archive.

There are also tons more sections on framework/hardware, solid-state/electro-mechanical controllers/accessories, detectors, and cabinets. If someone has a specific model they want me to look up, I'll scan it if I have it. The dates in the catalog range from the early to late 1970s. Some pages have no dates, but I'm assuming the entire catalog is from the 1970s.

We still have LFE poly PEDs (12" square and round) up here. ElectroMega distributes them at the moment
