Why do most 3Ms around me (all but a few) have no bottom backplate piece? I don't see what advantage that has.

All the 3Ms left around here have full backplates if they were fitted to begin with.

These 3M's have reds on the top and bottom sections (typical Quebecois style). If I had known these were there last August, I would've gotten several pics of these baby's.
