LFE Signal Project

Postby mcha9797 on Thu Jan 10, 2013 7:50 pm

I had these torn apart and the paint stripped off before I aquired the Eagle 4-way.....etc. so I wanted to somewhat finish them before I started on one of the Deco's. They came with a nice Marbelite 2-way mount with a slipfitter, nothing special, just a couple more signals for the collection. I still need some hoods for them, but that can wait.

Here's some before and after pic's.

Now I can get busy on the "D" Deco.

They look excellent, great job! That will make a very New Jersey-esque display. LFEs have definitely been the most abundant aluminum signals here in the post-Marb era.

Well what do you know. If I put my name here, I do not have to sign it everytime.

First off, excellent job on the restore, and I too really like that shade green. It is a good thing the visors were gone they can be a real beast to remove, as many here will attest. Steve "the Visor Man" can set you up with some sweet repro visors for it! The hardware (sweet Horni hardware that is!!!) looks to have never been painted, did that signal originate from New Jersey, or is it just me? You got a pole lined up for that and what visors are you envisioning? Great stuff!

I purchased these on ebay from a guy in Sarasota FL, he didn't know any history other than he got them from a friend?? There are many people from the northeast that live here in Florida, they could have originated from the NJ. area. I'm thinking ball cap visor's painted black for these signals, anyone know what is the correct visor's for these signals?? I have a pole located, but no base....yet.

LFEs used caps, tunnels, or full cylinders on the west coast.

What do you mean by "Horni hardware", is that just a style of bracket? This bracket is a Marbelite.
