Weekly Pick-a-Light Signal Connection Ring ID Thread

Postby LarryC39 on Fri Jun 29, 2012 8:32 pm

Lets try and get this going again. I'll pick an easier one EVERYONE can play along with!

GE Streamline:
Unique one, maybe one of the only cast styles made. Has bumps on the faces to lock into each signal section.
Image

Round Center Hole Style #1
One large center hole, then there are both three square carriage bolt holes as well as three round bolt clearance holes.
Image

Round Center Hole Style #2
One large center hole, then there are just three square carriage bolt holes you use on both sides.
Image

Round Center Hole Style #3
This is practically the same as style #2 but the center hole is much larger.
Image

Triangle Center Hole Style #1
The center hole is three connected [round] holes making a larger Y-hole. Rather like a Mickey Mouse with a tiny head. There are three square carriage bolt holes.
Image

Triangle Center Hole Style #2
The center hole is three connected oval holes making a larger Y-hole - the connection between the three holes has clipped, instead of curved flowing, edges. More of a radiation alert symbol. There are three square carriage bolt holes.
Image

3M Ring Connector
I'm told this style is used on 3M signals. It's slightly larger than the normal rings, only has two carriage bolt holes, and has a large "double D" ring hole in the center.
Image

Poly Signal Connector
What do you use to join a poly signal? Why a poly connector of course. It is a plastic fender washer shape, it has a central connector bolt hole surrounded by four pentagon shaped holes.

Checking a few that are within reach...

My LFE (12" and 8" sections) have the 'round center #1', like ChgrSteve's. My 8" Eagle Mark IV's have the 'round center #2', but the 12" Flatback has 'triangle center #2'. (or, at least what's left of it... ) And my Econolite 9" ped looks like it has 'round center #3'. (all depending on the exact diameters/bolt hole shapes that is...?)

One more -- the C-H 8" type R has 'triangle center #1'.

Had to get a couple pics of the ones in my Flatback, since until I actually looked at the silly things this morning, I had rather neglected to realize how...uhhh...how can I say this...AMAZING IT IS that I haven't ever managed to BUST one, having dragged that light around with me for the past ~20yrs or so...?? :scare: :braindamage: :fright:

note to self: scratch any plan to HANG that signal anywhere, esp over the bed... :blackeye:

3m Model 131
Here is the plate normally used in assembling sections of the 131 to each other.
Image

Delta Hole
Here is another style I found. It has a perfect triangle inside teh plate, and three square carriage holes.
Image

Eagle Trapezoid Back
I looked into my Eagles today, I have a trapezoid-back ped from Texas that used the "slightly oversized" washer with the 1 1/8" dia. center hole.

Also, my Singer's use the "Round Center Hole Style #1" AKA the one with round and square holes.
