AutoFlow Beacon Restoration

Postby rustyfoot on Tue Dec 25, 2012 9:01 pm

I finally started the restore on my AutoFlow 4 way caution beacon. These first few pictures show the beacon just as it was purchased and another group of pictures showing various stages of restoration and finally as it looks in primer paint awaiting the final paint. That will wait for a nice sunny day. Hope this thread turns out ok..I've had a nightmare of a time trying to get the Photobucket pictures uploaded correctly..thanks to Easy I think we got it! :blind: :beg:

Nice. I know what you mean about posting pictures. I just figured out how to resize. Now I'm getting ready for show and tell.

Very nice  your not using the original aluminum nuts? I would go back to the original green

The original rods and nuts are aluminum. One of the rods was broken and is to short plus the aluminum nut was missing. I am still uncertain about using acron nuts to replace the original nuts? The acorn nuts would dress up the looks, but not original. I can't decide which way to go on this?? I'm open to suggestions..
I am going back with the original green paint..using Ace hardware "Hunter Green" bar code 17087. I think it will be a close match to the original....If I'm incorrect about it Tell me. I need to hear what yall say about this..after all, you guys are the experts, not me, I'm stumbling around in the dark most of the time. I can use all the help I can get! :tease: :blind:

I would put back on nuts instead of accorns. A close match to the original green will look good

I went with the full size picture because I was having trouble using thumbnail pics. When you clicked on the thumbnail the full size picture would open, but it was also giving access to my entire library of pictures..not good! I'm going back and try to solve this problem. If I can solve that I will post it. If you know the procedure tell me please! I am using the old version of Photobucket. :blind: :tease:

Jay, I need some 5/16" aluminum rod material. I can thread it. Two of the aluminum rods are broken and to short so I need to make new ones. Do you know where I might find? :beg:

I think they sell aluminum rod stock at Ace Hardware here. I know that have rods at Home Depot as well but I'm not sure about aluminum.
