Siemens Radar Ped Sensor

Here are some pictures of a Siemens Radar Ped Sensor, they usually sit on top of the pole eliminating the use of a push button to send a call to the controller and it has a bonus function the extending the green walk if lots of people are crossing over the street at the same time.

Note the pole has predrilled holes to quicker mount the signal heads on the pole!

That's neat. I recognize the mounting, it looks just like my ped head (yes, I did get the shades on). The face makes me think that it is using a phased array microwave with a wide dispersal, unlike the simple one I was playing with on my new years count down display.

I'll have to think about the walk extension function. I don't think it would work in a NEMA controller because stop time would screw up the coordination and could be applied during a yellow of some other phase. Is this a feature in some controllers?

If they are sensitive enough to pick up a child, I wonder if a dog could get a walk light.
