Do trains still cross that road? Do the RxR signals still work?

Up where I am, there's a track that looks abandoned as there are weeds growing and the signals are incandescent and there are rusty bells (well, there is a gelcore LED crossing). The BCRY 1001 freight train still comes along sometimes.

Just for the record, this has nothing to do whether they're abandoned or not. :) The only thing that means is that that crossing hasn't been upgraded in the last 3 years or so. And there are *a lot* that haven't been upgraded in the last 3 years or so. (Remember, unlike municipalities, Railroads spend their own money. There's no need to replace it if it still works..!)

Unless the railroad is BNSF; they've replaced signals that still worked from the 1990s with new signals before.
I am a railfan, signalfan, and I'm interested in tornado sirens. I hope to learn new things about traffic lights because I'm interested in them and don't know much about them.

They wouldn't have replaced it themselves. In cases like that, either -
A change to the MUTCD required them to change it, or the state asked them to. Or, there was signal work in the area, and they combined the crossing into it. (For example, some crossings are smart, and send status back to the control room, in case of problems (current detectors, burnt out lights, gate position sensors, etc.). Likely, so they could get a tax break from the state.

These double-beacons were removed from here with-in the past two years:

These double beacons still exist, but the overhead signs have been removed. I don't think they work anymore either.

Yea nvm, the train doesn't come anymore. so I guess they're hardly going to clean or upgrade them, until further notice.

These railroad signals are still up along with the ones across the expressway on the other service drive. The gates were pulled and the signals are deteriorating. The backplates are chipping paint and one is missing a visor.

I remember seeing them active years ago. The controller for the vehicle signals would pre-empt and dwell in red for the crossing, and the intersection 200 feet past would flash red.

The tracks go north a few miles and then dead end at what once was a Visteon plant. The plant's now gone and there is concern the land it was on is toxic....

That's sad looking.

I'd love to get my hands in there and get them back up and operations. Even without any trains. :)

Those stoplights are red - do they still cycle, even though the crossing's no longer used? What do they cycle for?
