Manbearpig?

Postby EdT. on Sun Nov 04, 2007 12:57 am

Hmmm, ever see one of these before?

Could this have been a prototype? I got it from an old signal contractor who had access to the old Marbelite factory in Brooklyn, but he couldn't recall this particular box's origin.

Is this the bastard love child from some one night stand between Marbelite and Crouse Hinds?

I've seen occasional references to these on ebay, and in people's photos. I too have been scratching my head over why there would be Marblelight-branded art-deco style boxes.

Yes, that's exactly what it is.

I'd think this would match the finned Marbelites...remember, the "Art Deco" styling was not unique to Crouse-Hinds (to say the least) and appeared on a huge array of products, including buildings, appliances, etc.

Well yes, but this is distinctly Deco styling and not Marb Fins.

So then this little item I shot in Westchester (I'm sure Jesse can tell you where) fits in how? Based on info from here http://home.att.net/~njsignals/marbid/index.htm (thank you Francis) Ed, the logo on that box should indicate that it would have been made mid 70's' perhaps an abbreviated logo for a smaller box? I would say that the one in ed's pic was predecessor to the one in my pic.

I wish other signals were as well documented like Francis' marb pages.

Manbearpig? more like a one night stand with a drunken CH AD.

It's in Mamaroneck, NY, controlling a 3-way adjustable CH Deco beacon  .
