Some CL spottings...

Postby SirMarbelot on Mon Sep 16, 2013 10:41 am

I saw a couple hard-to-find early Marbelite pieces on CL recently, and just curious if anyone here got either of them and wants to share. The ads are gone, so I figure it's OK to post here...

1. A 4-lamp (RAG, Crown-type Broad Arrow) Flat Top with door-mounted reflectors was for sale in PA. Seller asked $250, I contacted the seller and was given a better offer, but I passed.

2. An 8-8-12-12 Marb combo signal in KS had two early 12" welded-back sections, one with a double Chinese arrow. At least one of the 12" sections was damaged.

I don't have very good luck on CL. Someone usually has call and bought it or told the guy its worth alot more . Maybe have bought 2 lights off there in last 4 years.

I never purchased signals from Craigslist, simply because of that reason as well.

From what I have seen, some buyers require one to send an e-mail, but they sometimes never reply back, which is really annoying to me.

I've gotten a couple lights from CL, including the one I later sold to NeonKing here. (And then, later, bought back.)

I use anonymous email services when contacting people on CL. That way my (real) email's not added to any spam lists. :)

My Ruleta was a Craigslist find, as was the hanging 2-way Marbelite that I sold to a club member this year. I have seen a LOT of interesting signals there, but the asking prices and distance usually puts me off from even bothering.

The CL thing has been a hit and miss for me. It seems CL users take hazy shifty shots of the things there selling :nono: Which leeds me to believe they're hiding something, just leaves a bad taste in me mouth.

I've driven for miles to see something only to walk away :cray:
Yet, I scored my bucket top from there as well :panic: 5hrs north

My Ruleta was at least that far away...in southern New Hampshire.

I've gotten a few good deals from there, a lot of no responses or just junk. Of course the usual suspect is still out there trolling...
