Marb Wait/Walk ped

Postby Macsignals on Sun Sep 29, 2013 7:22 pm

Here's something I picked up today. My dad pointed it out (it was buried in car parts) while we were walking around the fall swap meet at Old Bridge Twp. Raceway Park today. It's a 60's-early 70's 8" Marb two-section Wait-Walk head. It has the Marb-style cutaways on it with aluminum reflectors inside. It's been brush painted yellow over the original green which is making me think it's probably been in Jersey its whole life.

Here's the pics of it: http://www.flickr.com/photos/macsignals ... 030400125/

If I ever get the light room cleaned up/out I'll get it setup in there.

Is it brush painted??? The only reason I ask is the screws are still silver...

Marbelite had a habit of repainting signals from another color to meet an order.

Nice signal BTW!!! :good:
Well what do you know. If I put my name here, I do not have to sign it everytime.

It is interesting to me that the top of the "WAIT" section is still green. Is this true for the bottom, too?

Phil, it was brush painted yellow. The wingnuts are painted but not the visor screws.

Steve- the bottom is painted yellow not left green!

That's a very neat grab indeed! The lenses are older than the head, I assume. Unless they still made them in the late 60s?

Nice find
Maybe at one time this was a 3-section green signal that was then painted yellow. Then at some point the top section was removed? I wonder if in between the Wait-Wait sections is also green
