Hiya Dee,

I am home for about six months due to medical stuff. While off this long, trying to catch up on projects that have been on the back burner, some a couple of years. Really trying not to add to the load. These recent lights are kind of a weird deal to help out an old guy set a light up like he has wanted to do for years and get some really cool items we want. Will still end up with two more CH lights that we are really not sure what we are going to do with. All we wanted originally was one traffic light and when we acquired the CH 4-way, that was really enough for us. The single faced we bought for parts and instead ended up restoring, we are hoping to find a new home for it locally. Might trade it for body and paint work on our 51 Chevy.

Anyhow, we wire wheeled some of the paint off most of the parts this morning. This is the pile we now have ready for the blast box.

Cheers!

Hi Rosey,

Was looking at your photos and you have some really nice restorations.

Saw several photos of the CH Deco single red light with holes in the bottom plate facade. Do you know what those holes are for?

I would guess those holes would be used for a one way sign or a moving violation sign.

Hi Folks,

Was able to get a little bit done this morning before the humidity kicked in.

Wire wheeled all the green paint off and feathered the surface of this light base.

Still needs to be wiped down with phosphoric acid before applying primer next week. This base was manufactured by Traffic Control Corp. Chicago.

These are the cast iron clamps for one of the flag mount CHs. They have been wire wheeled, blasted and phosphoric acid applied. Another item to be primed next week.

Have most of the cabinet parts blasted. Have to drill out a few machine screws and tap a few holes. If all goes well, will have those parts ready plus the Sheppard's lamp post and Sondra's playground animals for primer painting this coming week.

Cheers!

I have run into a few deco beacons with those holes. I figured it was for a CH sign

Hiya Folks,

Hope everyone has had a good weekend.

Have most of the cabinet parts ready for primer painting. These parts have been wire wheeled, blasted and swept and run through the dishwasher. Hope to set up for painting by Tuesday.

Started cleaning up some of the hardware and noticed a difference on some of the clips that hold the lenses in the doors. When we rebuilt the CH D 4-way and a CH DT earlier this year, all the clips were steel. About half of the clips I cleaned today are brass. No photo yet, but will post tomorrow. The brass clips came from two of the "D" lights and I wonder if they are pre-war built lights? During WWII, brass was used extensively for making rounds and other military equipment. Does anyone know about these brass clips and specifically what years they were used in the CH lights?

Cheers!
