I lived in NYC from 1992 to 2008 and I rode my bike in Central Park 100's of times. I loved the Wait /Walk that survived until the late 1990's.

Steven- great work. Love the photos.

I was under the impression there was another Wait/Walk sign that lasted up until a few years ago, but maybe it was gone earlier than I thought? I have to do some searching, but I'm fairly sure one photographer caught a photo of it (or a different one) a couple years ago--perhaps one even stands today?

According to Google Map, as of 2011, there is one (with only a "WAIT" lens) in service in Central Park. Near W. 67th Street. I did not have the chance to see if that one is still in existence, since it was too hot to continue to walk on Thursday. For reference purposes, this is a street view of it and the general location of where it is...

I did, though, check another set-up not far from this (near W. 69th Street), since I was aware of another one (with only a "WAIT" lens as well) that I came across on Google Map. As of last year, it was in service. I was disappointed to see it was replaced with a brand new two-section pedestrian signal (red and green).

It's great to see how a couple of those signals seemed to be original 2-section signals that were retrofitted to be 3-sections by seeing the placement of the span bracket or pipe above the amber of the "new" 3-section. Thanks for sharing, Steven!
