This ad is introducing the 12" model. The 8" was already in production. Probably for only a few months.

Durasig's were fielded in 1971, over 2000 intersections in service/field testing. No mention of them in 1969 so they were introduced possible in 1970 but definitely in 1971.

Flatbacks were still produced as of 1970. The later models had date dials on the doors. 8 inch DuraSigs were developed before the 12 inch model.

My Dallas flat backs have manufacturing date of early 1972 on the inner door dial so this confirms that both types of signals were manufactured during this time. I think flat backs were made into the early 80s?
