Fantastic assortment of photos there!

I like the 12" arrows and 8" ball setups, makes for some interesting designs.

An interesting thing to note here is the Tin lantern on the reverse of the post.

Not sure how common it was in Aus, but over here they never seemed to mix SGE heads and Tin heads on the same pole or even on the same installation.

I doubt it was ever common, if indeed it ever occurred on normal installations. Considering this school set-up probably used a selection of retired signals, it's probably no surprise that it happened.

South Australia and Tasmania both seem to have had reasonable numbers of SGE signals. Victoria had at least one set that I'm aware of, and that was described by another collector to me as a childhood recollection. And I'd been past the same signals when very young, but do not recall exactly what they looked like. Just that they did not stand out very well.

The first pics on this thread will be the reference for restoring my G+W Eagle pedestrian signal. All I need now is aerosol paint & undercoat, masking tape, newspaper, new wing nuts & other bits-n-bobs!

 I have a SGE signal I found a few years back, it is very unusual design. Metal body, rivited onto the pole, and with a flexible plastic hood over the lens! The lens was also painted STOP.
