Thanks!!! I learned something.

:hello:

"Masking" is a 3M term for limiting the light to specific viewing areas. Intelight calls it "light steering". Same thing...both mean the signal can limit visibility by adjusting the head.

This intersection in Bartow Florida is very difficult to see the 3M's in an 18 wheel truck. They seem to be aimed lower for car's, I don't see any indication till I get right up to the signals. I see the purpose for these signals, but this set IMO are not aimed correctly.

I posted a rear view of the 3M's so you could see the short distance between signals, the one's in the distance are regular signals. Why would they put 3M's on one intersection, and not the other?

Sorry, I can't seem to get the Google map thing to work right. You kind of get the drift of the post without the pic's.

What Nick said, and Dee linked you to. Used when you want to 'limit' who can see the indication. (Like, for example, in small-angle intersections, or two intersections (phases) that are *very* close together.

I'm torn between masking mine, or leaving them as-is. For me, part of the 'features' to show off would BE the masking, however.. I don't want to NOT see the lights! I kind of like the idea of masking one or two lights, may consider that.

Thanks again! I still can't believe that I couldn't find mine that went with that light.  I purposefully saved them when I took the light apart, and... aargh!

Thanks! Figured that once I get the McCain PV up there, that'll be it for that wall. So it'll just have PV lights on it, hanging out.

I need to find a right piece for attaching a hanger to the McCain, though. Turning out to be more difficult than anticipated. I'm waiting to hear back from a Pelco person now.
