In any case, while browsing the sets this user has, I stumbled upon some signals in some photographs that I think some members here would enjoy. Great perspective and clarity overall.
Mid-town.

The photograph below is from Brooklyn. Coney Isl. to be exact. W. 12th St. and Surf Av. At the time this was taken, the bulky Winko-Matic pedestrian signals that face each crosswalk of Surf Ave. were still in use. They'd probably remain in useful service for an additional three to four years. The traffic signal clusters from Marbelite are still in existence, and they are in their original form, too.

Nice signage, not to mention signals.

Now, I'll admit that I don't come across vintage photographs that show signal cabinets opened often; however, this one below is a real treat. I'm not sure what the corner is in Manhattan, but here is a Marbelite cabinet opened while in service. Notice the absence of the "blue box," too. Everything looked so much cleaner inside in 1980.
