Marbelite 2nd generation flat top

Postby Crunge98 on Sat Oct 16, 2010 11:58 pm

This is Marbelites 2nd generation of the flat top. Gone is the door mounted reflectors, redesigned to fit into the body and swing out. Doors are a new design but the body is almost unchanged. The lenses could of been Kopp 77 outlined M with the RDL on them with no periods. The corning type E and the large bead with the M logo. I'm still trying to figure out the lenses. Visors could be tunnels or tunaaways

Logo on the back has changed, pat pend. and New York U.S.A. added

The dimples are still there

I've noticed that tunnel visors on Hornis and early Horni-decendant Marbs have that look; less of a downward slant than the later design.

I love these signals.

Looks identical to the one I got this spring; will have to check out the bottom to see if it has the same housing...

Jay,
Is there a 3rd generation flat top? I ask because I have a flat top that looks just like your 2nd generation, except there are no dimples on the back and no dimples around the bottom opening. The inside of my flat top says TD-19143 H.S.

Just got a nice 2nd Generation Los Angeles flat top from Ryan (Engine 10) . I love the simplicity and good looks of these.

Pics coming soon.

PS - Does anyone in the club have an original Horni version of the flat top signal? These were just like the 1st Gen Marbelite, except for the script Horni log on the back. I think I have seen only one or two come on eBay.
