Nevada Willis wrote:That's a really interesting signal. I had originally assumed that all the old Southern Switch portholes were Autoflows. The Darley (as in Time-O-Matic?) flasher and small weatherhead seem to reinforce a theory that in the 1940s Darley and Southern Switch either used some of the same parts or provided parts for each other.

Willis,

Do you have any supporting information about the Darley and Southern Switch connection? That would mean that my Darley flasher might be factory correct for this particular beacon and it should be rebuilt and reinstalled.

John,
Beautiful job! :good:

Very cool/unique beacon too. Although I'm not a MB fan, the MB-reminiscent detail on the door blank instead of a flat panel adds alot of character.

ps - I dig using ladders as a hanger system!

I do like that fancier blank door plate they used. It looks like you got modern S&S visors installed on the doors, like Hertford used on their other S&S beacon, the originals were peen rivited onto the doors.

PS anyone have three more reflectors like that?

I like the fancier door plates too. This beacon was complete as I got it. The visors appeared to be the originals.

FWIW those disc flashers are the old Chinese equivalent of a hardware store. I have at least three (more I think) of them and they're all identical but all have a different nameplate under the adjustment switch. I looked in my modern S&S TEECO style 4-way and it had a TSI controller in it. So I think your controller is 100% authentic, even if the nameplate is not quite so  I'd restore and keep that one in there and if you really want to get anal when you find a S&S or other ID tag stick it on there instead.
