Interesting Flasher

EM, NEMA, whatever - if it controls a traffic signal, you can talk about it here.

Hey Troy,

In looking at the picture of your tag, it appears there is no catalog number and no number for the cycles box either. Are there no numbers stamped in those spaces or does it just appear that way because of the glare in the picture?

If there are no numbers, could it be that this box was ordered from the factory empty? That would be cool, because it would help make the argument that the flasher you have may very well have been in that box since day one! Perhaps the municipality or company that ordered it specified a mecury switch etc...

By the way... can anyone identify Troy's flasher?

That would be cool Dave, but no, the flash / glare wiped it out. There is a catalog number (46396) and a cycles number (60) stamped on it. Whatever it is, I kind of like it. :hello:

Troy,
I can tell you exactly what that is. It is not a traffic signal flasher it was a flasher for an airport obstruction avoidance beacon and was sold as part of the airport lighting division. Probably dates to the 50's or 60's they came with that style door usually were silver in color and would have a sticker on the front of the door which was a globe with a gold wing across it, this was the logo the used for there airport lighting division.

Yep, it had a remnant of the sticker on the left side of the door and was silver with a lot of rust. Cool, thanks Rich.

She's re-born and is now a signal flasher for one of the beacons in the garage.

Very cool info!

Sounds to me like you have a very rare model Troy! In lieu of Rich's information, do I see a silver color change in the future? :Phil: Or is it going to stay green?

No, I like it green for now. It's next to the R/Y/G Deco, WALK/WAIT deco, deco downlight which are all green.
Here's it silver

So Rich, is the flasher a CH model from their aviation division then?? Or is it just the box that's CH?

Wow Troy that is super :good: I think as far as flashers go, they must have all been similar in size enough to fit in a flasher cabinet. What I have is an Eagle disc flasher with a 7 day time clock in a Marb flasher cabinet

:cray: Kind of wish I hadn't sold my Eagle disc flasher...now I have to find another equally cool disc flasher somewhere for my beacon that I may eventually, someday get to build... :beg: :rotfl:
