Darley hanger question

Postby Easy on Mon Jan 14, 2013 12:43 pm

Is the hanger pipe part of the weather head or does the pipe thread into the head? Also does the bell hanger just dangle on the hanger until the hanger is screwed on to the signal? I would like to separate the bell from the hanger, and the pipe from the head. What do I have to do?

Easy, I don't have the bell on my Darley, but the pipe screws into the head. When you unscrew the pipe from the head the bell should slip off. You may need to heat the weather head? Sometimes if heat won't turn loose the threads try some Coca Cola...pore it around the threads and let it work for 1 hour. That will eat away the bond where the threaded pipe screws into the head. Two big pipe wrenches and some patience is usually required..IMO. :2Cool: :hyper:
I would like to have a bell for my Darley... if anybody has an extra :beg: send me a PM. :2Cool:
I need all the help I can get.. :blind:

The pipe nipple runs thru the bell and is threaded into the hanger. The bell won't slide over the top nut. What I end up doing is sliding the bell down and cutting the pipe and replacing the stem with new.
