To clarify how I got the nuts free, I used a cutoff wheel on my angle grinder to cut two notches on each nut. Consequently, this also notches the pipe nipple. This does not affect the nut's ability to turn freely. I then removed the small piece of nut and tapped the remaining with a punch and hammer to rotate it around the nipple. A little sacrifice saved about an eternity. No amount of penetrating oil or heat would have freed the nuts.

Are you going to have to (be able to?) put new nipples in the hardware?

Ok, the top hardware looks pretty good, but I can't tell on the bottom...the pic is too far away. From your description of the nuts, I figured it was too far gone to reuse.

The hanger removal will be an adventure for sure. It will get cut off the hub somehow. Too much rust.

What size angle grinder do you have? I can practically do surgery with my 3". Next time just notch the nut and not the nipple on one side only. Use a chisel to crack then spread the nut.

Those visors aren't going in the trash, are they?
