Francis, I thought about repainting mine sometime back, but I decided to simply leave it as-is. Normally, as you may know, I tend to leave signals I acquire in their original condition.

While I agree that dark olive green is a nice color, if I repaint the housing, I feel that I'd remove all that original exposure to the environment it was once in.

Personally, I'd leave it as-is. Though it is your Ruleta, and you could do whatever you want to it as you please. :-)

I mean is there a soulution out there you can buy by bulk and simply fill up a lined box of some sort. Simply dip the whole signal in and pull it out and all the paint is gone, I mean gone?

But what do you then do with the paint contaminated stripper chemicals?

I'm no tree-hugger, but I certainly wouldn't want to dump that stuff down the drain or into the wild...

While scoping out a powder coater for my Novalux in my area, I learned of a nearby metal shop that offered the service of dipping most anything metal to remove the paint. This was after I spent $25+ on paint remover and the frustration of applying multiple coats to find that some of the paint still remained. The powder coater was able to media blast the rest of the paint off before doing their job. I actually talked to the guy that offers the dipping process, I believe that I will use his services in the future vs. paint stripper. Considering the cost of the paint remover, mess it makes, and the time and frustration involved, dipping a signal to remove the paint is a bargain!!!

Yea, you'd have so much chemical to dispose of, it would be a mess not to mention the cost.
A NJ joke just crossed my mind.
Since you live in NJ you can simply dip it in any pond in NJ and the chemicals in the pond will strip the paint off.
Anyone anyone :Phil:ok, I'm still working on those joke over here

I swear the paint wrinkles and peels off of my truck when I drive on the NJ Turnpike north of Woodbury. :Phil:

Francis- Having used (and cursed at) plenty of Citristrip, I would think the original paint job and any early repaints would be safe, but I would probably test it on a small area on the top or bottom first!

Citristrip was no match for the Ruleta. A can of paint and a small brush is next.

As always, it is your call Francis, and I appreciate restorations a lot. I do have to cast a second vote for leaving it as is. Perhaps it is a "Steven thing" here.
