EM, NEMA, whatever - if it controls a traffic signal, you can talk about it here.

Question about the EPIC 140...

Postby scrotor on Tue Sep 25, 2007 8:28 pm

Greetings!

I got into the Traffic Biz about a year ago by landing a job as an Electronic Technician. I repair and test various controllers and CMUs along with other associated equipment. The stuff i repair comes from different cities across the US , so i occasionaly come across controllers that are foriegn from what's used in my neigborhood. I primarily deal with TS-1: (ABC coupling) , 170's And TS-2: SDLC. I dont come across much of the pre timed controller however, and recently had to repair an EPIC 140....I currenlty don't have a test rig to exersice the input/output of the type of unit.

My question:

Are the A & B cannon connections (EF140 connection) Proprietary to Eagle? Or can they be found on other manufacturers' controllers? Has anyone ever seen Test equipment for this type of controller?

Thanks
MAtthew

The connectors are interchangable with the EF140 connectors, which is Eagle. As far as i know they are not used on any other controller because the EPIC is not NEMA certified. It is "pre-NEMA". I am the only collector that has/had an EPIC140 unit, and i replaced it because of an internal computer problem.
