Hi everyone and I hope all's well.
A friend of mine gave me an old catalog for my birthday gift. He got it mostly because it had a lot of items that would have been marketed to fire departments sometime in the 1940's. Well, I was looking through it the other night and I saw this catalog, called "Municipal Equipment" was marketed by a company called General City Service Company which had an office here in Los Angeles. It wasn't long before I found that the catalog marketed a lot more than just equipment for fire departments. Toward the back of the catalog was six whole pages devoted to signs & signals!
I have made a PDF of the six pages I am speaking of, but am only able to post a couple of them because of size restrictions here. Nevertheless, take a look at the attached. There is a signal on there marketed under the brand name "Safeway Signal". I have never heard of this brand until now. Although this company had an office in Los Angeles, I am relatively sure that L.A. didn't use any of the signs or signals marketed in this catalog. Take a look and let me know what you folks know. On the page is a two way signal, but other pages I have show that Safeway also had a R-Y-G signal they were marketing.
