15 watt bulbs?

Postby adamfishercox on Thu Jul 25, 2013 5:38 pm

Anyone tried 15 watt bulbs in their signals? I'm sure it's fairly dim but for indoor use is it too dim? I found some that have 20,000 life hours or something crazy and want to stock up if they'd be enough to light up the indications without blinding me like these 60 watts are doing.

If you have your signals indoors, 15W should be fine. I use 25W in my garage and the signals are definitely bright enough. When there's more sunlight in the garage they do look slightly dim, but I can take that considering I'm not trying to display them for people on the street.

The 20,000 hours is a good deal. I had 25W in my 4-way and had a lot of burn outs running a year 24/7. I have some LED in it now but the color of them is too white. My greens are blue. I'd still like to find an LED with a warmer spectrum but until then your 15W seem like the way to go.

I have 15w in my signals indoors and out. I find personally the 15w is bright enough and feel I'm not driving up the electric bill at the same time. I've tried all the bulbs from 15w to 100w and feel comfortable with the 15w

Are these 'clear' or 'frosted' 15W bulbs we're talking about??

I use 15w frosted on almost all my light inside and out.
I think think they are perfect.

Personally I don't like the look from frosted bulbs...you can "see the bulb" too much n the lens. But I run 25W...might be less noticable at 15W.

I've been running 25-watt clear bulbs in my signals. I think it's a nice balance between brightness, energy efficiency, and look.
Peace!
