Yup, but further West from the Marbelite site.

Here's the corner today.

And here's the old Marbelite building (or where it stood).

Does NY learn from its mistakes? You can be the judge when they eventually publish the demolition of Yankee Stadium.

truth is the yankees aren't the only ones guilty of ruining-razing their signature City pieces...
we have plenty of examples of the bastardization of the landscape with poorly constructed-thoughtless and purely utilitarian structures replacing classic art deco and mid century modern structures all over Atlanta. I could list many of them from the old terminal station to the '63 Atlanta Airport terminal. You say damn the Yankess I say damn the idiots
but hey that is progress...

I believe I understand the necessity of revitalization and change in many if not most of the choices city planners make. Furthermore, I'll concede that the new Yankee stadium is not only more spacious, safer (the upper decks of old Yankee stadium were notoriously vertigo inducing) and all around more comfortable to attend games at. Heck, you can watch the game while waiting online at most of the concession stands now. And I'm not talking about on a monitor, I'm talking about line of sight viewing. Definitely quite awesome. The only problem is that the new stadium is soulless. A great deal of the appeal for me going to see the Yankees was visiting the stadium with all its history. There were a myriad of alternate use suggestions for the old stadium that were ignored. I'm sure the bottom lines on their spreadsheets proved that it didn't make fiscal sense, but sometimes there are issues more important than the bottom line. :rant2:
